who are we?
//› Sapana means Dream (in some dialects of Nepal and India)
//› We are a non-profit organization which started in 2009 and was officially founded in 2012 (official documentation here)
//› From Portugal with love: we are based in Lisbon but work for the World (starting in Portugal and India)
//› We want to empower lives, understanding what are the problems that people have and deliver a fresh solution to them
//› The two pillars: we are focused on social and economical empowerment of people and in raising awareness for some of the most important topics of our time
//› We develop projects that we love and we do it with passion
Sometimes people need a push. No matter where. In countries like Portugal (our home country), young people are struggling with a serious unemployment problem and others with poverty, but in countries like India, besides poverty there are other problems such as serious gender equality issues: so many issues that are delaying people’s lives. But everyone has qualities, skills and passions. They just need a push! The same applies to organizations. A large percentage of NGO ‘s, mainly in developing countries, despite having strong capacity, goals, funds and motivated teams, they suffer from basic structural failures that prevent them to achieve the desired impact in the community they are willing and can achieve.
SAPANA is focused on facing and correcting these failures, giving basic tools on economics, social, interpersonal, management and sustainability areas. Both for people and for social organizations.
Additionally, women can in fact be the development force of a community. And due to social and cultural issues, they are stuck in unfair roles and completely inaccurate of their potential. SAPANA, through a focus on raising awareness and on gender equality, intends to fight this reality through training and empowerment practices with results on financial sustainability and social dignity of women.
“together we empower people and develop organizations.
what drives us?To reach one’s deepest inner being and develop his/her skills and passions, emerging out sustainability, dignity and will to change, towards a greater impact in the community around.
passion + innovation + sustainability + impact + dignity
